What is a marking gauge and what is its use?
The marking gauge (also called a scriber) is a wooden instrument consisting of a main body in which two parallel wooden rods are inserted in the center and slide perpendicularly. The rods are equipped, on one side, with small metal points (called pins). It is used to trace, with light grooves, lines parallel to a reference edge, useful in subsequent cutting operations.
