On the occasion of the celebration of the Portimão Museum Prize for welcome, inclusion and sense of belonging, awarded to the Museum at the European Museum of the Year Awards (EMYA) 2026, the following will speak:

Let's celebrate the award together
With a toast and a macaroni and cheese platter offered by the Municipality of Stabio, we'll share the joy of this important milestone and the sense of community that made it possible.

Visit to the warehouse

A special opportunity to enter the warehouse and wander among the shelves and sections housing nearly 20,000 objects that tell the story of the life and traditions of the community and the region.

Transportation to and from the depot is organized by the Museum.

Inauguration of the new exhibition

A new room has been added to the Museum's permanent exhibition, dedicated to two important activities that have marked the history of the area: silkworm breeding
and tobacco processing.

Relive the awards ceremony at EMYA 2026

Inside the Museum, it will be possible to see the Portimão Prize, relive the awards ceremony, meet the people who were present on stage, and learn about the long journey that has led the Museum to be ranked among Europe's leading museums.

IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER

Official speeches will be held inside the Museum, toasts and macaroni will be cancelled and the Museum will open to the public at
12:00 pm.

WED 1.30pm - 5.30pm

SA and SU 10.00 am - 12.00 am and 1.30 pm - 5.30 pm

 

Closed on official holidays of the Canton of Ticino, closed for special events ( click here).

Summer closure from June 30th to September 2nd inclusive.

Winter closure from December 19th to January 14th inclusive.

Entrance tickets:

Entrance to the Museum is free for everyone.

 

Accessibility:

The Museum is equipped with a lift (length 140 cm, door width 90 cm, internal width 110) and an access ramp and is accessible to people with mobility difficulties.

Rates (maximum 25 students/people):

- kindergartens (30 - 45 min.): 130 CHF
- elementary, middle and third cycle schools (1h - 2h): 150 CHF

- groups: 180 CHF
