The spokes, usually twelve and made of ash wood, are linear wooden elements of the cart wheel that extend radially from the center of the wheel (hub) to the outer circumference (fellows). The spokes were often the signature of the cartwright, who by giving them a specific shape made them a sort of personal brand.
