What are the fellows of the cart wheel?
The fellows are curved segments (generally made of ash or black locust wood) that form the wooden circumference of the cart wheel. Each fellow has two holes for inserting the spokes, which are mounted on the hub at the opposite end.
Sometimes, in the final stage of the wheel's construction, the connections between the fellows were secured thanks to through bolts, with the aim of preventing possible movements of the fellows.
