What is the trabiccolo and what was it used for?

The trabiccolo was the most characteristic tool of the cartwright's workshop. It is made up of two shaped beams placed close together at one end (funnel-shaped), joined by two crosspieces and supported by four legs. In the area where the beams are close together there are two recesses, in which the hub was fixed with two iron arches when the spokes were being inserted. On the opposite side, where the beams are farther apart, an iron crosspiece with a through hook was applied between the two crosspieces allowing the wheel to be locked in place and kept still during the installation of the rim.
