How was hay transported by sled?
Transporting hay by sled was a consolidated practice in regions subject to heavy snowfall, such as the Blenio Valley or the Leventina Valley. Hay was left in storage on mountain terrain during the milder seasons and then retrieved during the winter. The presence of snow on the ground allowed the sleds to slide, making it easier to transport hay from the meadows to the barn or stable.
