The cowbells were produced partly by local artisan or by workshops in Ticino, such as Tenconi in Airolo, which was very renowned for this type of production, and partly by workshops operating outside the borders of Ticino (German-speaking part of Switzerland or Italy).
Even today there are companies specialized in their production, such as Forge du Camp, in the Vaud Jura.
