What are dances and what are they for?
Dances are particular evolutions accompanied by intense vibrations of the abdomen that some bees perform on the honeycombs (within specific areas that act as a "dance floor") to communicate to other bees, not only the presence of a source of food (or water) in the environment outside the hive, but also its quality and any obstacles to overcome to reach it. During the dances, bees use the position of the sun as a reference point to orient their movements and precisely signal the source of nectar. The intensity of the movements during the dance indicates how rich or poor the source is.
