What is honeycomb and how is it constructed?
The honeycomb is a wax structure produced by bees inside the hive, made up of hexagonal cells (about 7000 per honeycomb), essential for storing nectar, pollen and for raising larvae. To build the honeycombs, the bees gather together and group themselves next to each other, forming chains (called a wax cluster). In this position, remaining still for about 24 hours, they produce flakes of wax that they weld together one by one until they form the bottom and walls of the cells.
