What is a seed drill and what is it used for?
The seed drill is an agricultural machine that distributes the seed into the soil and then buryes it. It consists of a metal frame, on which hoppers containing the seeds are mounted, each with holes in the bottom connected to flexible tubes. A lever allows you to open and close the holes, thus regulating the distribution of the seed. To ensure the seeds are correctly placed in the soil, a rubber roller or rotating discs gently push the grains into the soil, while small leveling plowshares close the furrow. The first mechanical seed drills were invented in the nineteenth century and contributed to a significant transformation in agricultural practices.
