Is the silkworm a fragile animal and subject to disease?
Yes, silkworms are animals that, if not raised with care, easily develop diseases, which can spread quickly and affect the entire farm. The place where silkworms are raised must be protected from drafts and the temperature must remain constantly around 21 °C. Hygiene is also essential to avoid the development of diseases, which were prevented by disinfection once the annual breeding was over, which could be done, for example, by painting the walls with lime milk and burning layers of wet straw or sulphur for several days.
