Who worked mainly in the spinning mills?
In the spinning mills, mainly women and girls worked up to 11 hours a day, unravelling the silk thread from the cocoon, immersing it in hot water, and spinning the silk. The women who worked in the spinning mill, the so-called filandèr, often accompanied their work with songs, very suggestive and soulful texts, in which the women, forced to work in a tight and demanding rhythm, found relief and comfort.
