Once the thread was formed, what needed to be done?
The thread had to be removed from the spindle or the shuttle of the spinning wheel to be collected and stored in skeins, which allowed the threads to be kept in order. To carry out this action, the hand reel or the rotating reel were used. The skeins were then washed, rinsed, dried and then unravelled using the spinning wheel and the thread was wound into balls or spools intended for warping and weaving.
