What is the spinning wheel and what was it used for?
The spinning wheel is a wooden tool consisting of a vertical shaft on which a rotating structure is fixed, made up of two horizontal crosses whose ends are joined by vertical pegs. It is similar to a rotating reel, from which it differs in use: the reel is used to form the skeins, the spinning wheel is used to unravel the skeins. The skeins were inserted horizontally into the rotating structure and the spinner, by rotating the spinning wheel, unraveled the skeins, and then wound the thread into balls or spools to be used for warping and weaving.
