What is the winder and what was it used for?
The winder has the same structure as the spinning wheel but with a reduced use: while the spinning wheel allows the twisting and creation of the thread and its winding on a shuttle, the winder only allows the second action to be carried out with a previously spun thread. The winder was used to unravel the skeins, generally positioned on the spinning wheel, or the balls of yarn and wind the thread on the shuttle intended for warping and weaving.
