What is a dye bath and how was it done?
The dye bath is the large tank in which the fibers and fabrics were immersed for dyeing. It was prepared by boiling the chosen natural ingredients (reduced into small pieces or ground) in order to extract the dyes contained within them. The fragments were separated thanks to filters, so that only the colored water remained. The ratio between natural ingredient and water was 1:2 and the boiling process lasted at least an hour.
