How was pad stamping done?
The fabric to be printed, ironed using a mangle (a cylinder-based ironing machine), was laid out on a long table, usually covered with felt, which provided a suitable surface for printing. The pad stamp was dipped into the tray of the desired color and then placed on the fabric, taking care to keep it still. Once positioned, the stamp was hit with a mallet. The process was repeated on all the fabric to be printed, placing the stamp next to the previously printed motif.
