Indigo is a plant native to India, tropical Africa, the Antilles and Brazil, which arrived in Europe at the time of the Greeks and Romans. The indigo pigment is obtained through a long process, which allows its extraction from the plant. Once extracted, the indigo is dried in order to obtain a powder. Indigo is composed of molecules that are not soluble in water.
