Where were the stamps used for indigo blue printing produced?
The stamps used in Ticino came mainly from the south of the Alps and from the cantons of Glarus and Appenzell.
In Lugano, the stamp maker Benvenuto Baroffio (1824-1908) was active. He arrived in Ticino as an exile from Milan in 1848 and after studying at Brera he immediately began working for the Lugano printing house.
