How does the rabbit express a state of relaxation?
Depending on the degree of relaxation, the rabbit can rest in a crouched position, with its hind legs stretched out laterally or posteriorly, or lying on its side with its legs extended laterally. Rabbits rest for 12-18 hours a day but, due to high predatory pressure, they are always alert and regularly interrupt all activity to check their surroundings, sitting or standing on their hind legs with their ears pricked up.
